Elections Credibility Initiative

As part of its Elections Credibility Initiative, CDES Cameroon organized a Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop for trainers of Political Parties contesting in the September 30 elections. The training held on the 24 September at Paradise Lodge saw the participation of 4 Political Parties contesting in the South West and Littoral regions. 48 participants from the SDF, UNDP, CPDM and PAP took part in the training and were requested to conduct trainings for agents or representatives of their respective parties in Local Polling Commissions.
The objective of the training was to give the party agents an insight of the role of the Local Polling Commission, their role party agents in polling stations,the Electoral Code, illustrate key steps in the opening, voting, closing and counting processes, the do’s and the don’ts of a party agent, why a party agent, communication mechanism, possible identification, voting and evidencing malpractices in polling stations among others.
The Executive Director of CDES Cameroon while closing the one day training, requested the participants to educate their supporters on the voting procedure, conduct same training for their respective party agents and to contribute towards improving the conduct of elections in Cameroon by supporting ELECAM in its mission towards ensuring a peaceful and credible elections come September 30.
